1. What, when and where is the 2013 Circle of Sisters?

Circle of Sisters is sponsored by WBLS-FM and WLIB-AM. WBLS (107.5 FM) is the premiere African American Station in the New York area. Some of its top-rated shows include The Steve Harvey Morning Show. WLIB (1190 AM) is the powerhouse 24-hour Gospel, Praise, and Inspiration station, featuring on-air talent that includes Yolanda Adams, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Donnie McClurkin and Morgan Dukes. Circle of Sisters hosts a variety of speakers, authors, seminars, inspirational services, R&B and gospels concert in addition to the more than 200 vendors and companies selling unique items and services.

The Circle of Sisters Expo takes place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on Saturday October 19th 10am to 10pm and Sunday October 20th 11am to 8pm. The Javits Center is located on 11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets.

2. How do I get to the Jacob Javits Convention Center?

By Car

There are many parking garages throughout the Javits Center vicinity. Please see our Parking Information Page for locations and phone numbers of convenient parking near the Javits Center. From the North (Westchester, Connecticut, Massachusetts)

  1. Take 95 South (via the Cross-Bronx Expressway) to the George Washington Bridge.
  2. At approach to bridge, bear right to lower level.
  3. Exit at the last exit in New York–Parkway South–9A.
  4. Follow Parkway South (Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Highway) to 42nd Street.
  5. Turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

Saw Mill River Parkway/Henry Hudson Parkway/Route 9A

  1. Follow 9A South to 42nd Street. Turn Left.
  2. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

New York State Thruway/Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87:

  1. Take Major Deegan Expressway to George Washington Bridge exit. Stay in right lane towards lower level.
  2. Exit at the last exit in New York–Parkway South–9A.
  3. Follow Parkway South (Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Highway) to 42nd Street. Turn left.
  4. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

From the South (New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Etc.)

  1. Take 95 North to the New Jersey Turnpike. Exit at the Lincoln Tunnel.When exiting the tunnel, bear left.
  2. Follow signs for uptown or northbound to 42nd Street.
  3. Turn left onto 42nd Street until you reach 11th Avenue and turn left.

George Washington Bridge to Parkway South– 9A.

At 42nd Street, turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

From Queens and Long Island/Queens-Midtown Tunnel:

  1. Take Southbound or Downtown exit to 34th Street and turn right.
  2. Go west to 12th Avenue and turn right on 12th Avenue to 39th Street where you turn right.

Queensboro/59th Street Bridge:

  1. Take 60/61st Street Exit. Go to 5th Avenue alongside Central Park to 59th Street.
  2. Turn right onto 59th Street to 7th Avenue and turn left.
  3. Go two blocks to 57th Street and turn right.
  4. Follow 57th Street to 11th Avenue and turn left.

From Staten Island:

  1. Verrazano-Narrows Bridge eastbound to the Gowanus Expressway, to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.
  2. Exit westbound to the West Side Highway/12th Avenue.
  3. At 39th Street, turn right.
  4. Go one block to 11th Avenue.

Public Transportation

Buses

  • M34:Runs east/west on 34th Street. Stops on 11th Avenue outside the Javits Center and at Penn Station.
  • M42:Runs east/west on 42nd street. Stops directly outside the Javits Center and at Grand Central Station.Port Authority: The M42 will bring you from there to the Javits Center.

Trains The following trains stop at 34th Street/Penn Station:

  • Amtrak, New Jersey Transit
  • 8th Avenue and The Long Island Rail Road
  • 7th Avenue and The Long Island Rail Road
  • 6th Avenue
  • Lexington Avenue:

The following trains stop at 42nd Street/Times Square (Broadway):

  • Metro North Railroad trains stop at Grand Central Station at 42nd Street between Lexington and Vanderbilt Avenues.
  • 8th Avenue
  • 7th Avenue
  • 6th Avenue
  • Lexington Avenue

In just 4 minutes the ferry takes you across the Hudson River to 39th Street and 12th Avenue, just one block from the Javits Center. Just park at the convenient lot adjacent to the ferry terminal and take a ferry which leaves every 10 – 15 minutes during peak hours.

3. Is there parking at the Jacob Javits Convention Center?

There is some street parking near the Javits Center, most of which is available only on Sunday. There are a variety of lots open, ranging from 24-hour, 7-day a week, to more limited service.

Yes, any portion of the site that deals with the purchase of tickets or acquisition of information is secure.

5. How much are tickets to the Circle of Sisters Expo?

6. What forms of payment are accepted for tickets to the Circle of Sisters Expo?

Online, we accept credit and debit cards. At the door, we accept cash, credit and debit cards.

7. Do I need to bring my printed tickets to the Jacob Javits Center?

Yes, we will not be able to print tickets for you. You must bring your tickets with you or you will not be admitted to the Circle of Sisters.

8. What if I don’t feel comfortable placing my ticket order online?

If you would prefer to buy your tickets off-line, please come down to the WBLS/WLIB studios located at 395 Hudson Street 7th Floor New Y0rk, NY 10014 floor to purchase your tickets in person.

Circle of Sisters tickets are non-refundable.

10. Can I bring my child to the event?

Certainly! Children are welcome at the Circle of Sisters Expo. Each year, we feature a children’s pavilion, which features readings by top children’s book authors. There will be vendors selling products that will appeal to children and their parents. And we also encourage families to bring their children to Dr. Hezekiah Walker’s church service at the Circle of Sisters on Sunday. Children under 10 years of age are FREE!

11. Can I bring a backpack or stroller to the Circle of Sisters Expo?

Absolutely; however, please note that the Circle of Sisters staff and their security departments reserve the right to search large bags.

Yes, coat-check will be mandatory at the Circle of Sisters Expo 2013.

14. Can I leave and re-enter the event?

Yes you will be able to re-enter, however you will have to have a hand stamp to do so. Without the stamp there will be no re-entry.

15. Does Circle of Sisters accept volunteers?

We do accept volunteers on an as-needed basis. If you are interested in volunteering for the 2012 Circle of Sisters, please call 212.447.1000 and ask to speak with Curize Richards in the Promotions Department.

Circle of Sisters is produced by WBLS-FM and WLIB-AM of YMF Media New York, LLC.

17. I am with the press. How do I get media credentials?

If you are a media outlet looking for press credentials for the 2012 Circle of Sisters, please fax a request letter on your company’s letter head to 212.447.5791.

In your letter please include the following:

  1. Background information on your organization
  2. What you are looking to do at the event (film, photograph, write a story)
  3. The number of people you are looking to bring
  4. Your name and contact information
